Reporters....Standing by
Well, I'm here to report that it appears Rosemary will beat the Vegas odds makers by being the first to deliver the inaugural brood for SIS Ranch. Anise & Licorice had no comment at press time and Pepper didn't really care. But, I'm pretty darn sure we are about to see a delivery. I'm standing by for new details. I will say, Rosemary looks very cool and calm for a first-time mom!

Wait One Minute Here!
Hey, I'm growing too. HE, the almighty Puck, may have his G2 this and G2 that, but my brow tines have started and it looks like I'm going to have a decent spread myself for my first year. So there...nah, nah, nah, nah, nah......NAH!!I am watching one of my antlers, on the left side, which seems to have a lower curve than the other. I think I may have bumped it one day early in my antler growth, when I went left and should've gone right while Mr. Human was moving feed. I hit the fence and boy, did it smart. I did manage to shed some of my winter coat in the fence at the same time. It looked like I shaved my head with that one! I guess I'll just have to wait and see what comes along. But, I'd be willing to bet that in a few years, I'll have that old Puck beat. Just you wait and see. I may be just a yearling, but I'm one heck of cool dude.
Oh by the way, everyone can wish me happy birthday. I just celebrated my first birthday...I ate a little extra corn I took from the girls. HA!
I'll be enjoying the sprinklers this summer, hope you do too.

Puck Checks In
Well, welcome to summer everyone. I, while waiting for my kids to be born, am also doing some growing of my own. Check out my antlers this week. I've now split my brow tine on the left side and my G2 is coming in on the same side. Also, on the left base, I'm getting a non-typical point. Everyone talks about how much baby fawns need extra nutrients from mom, well, let me tell you, these antlers are taking just as much to grow as fabulous as they grow. Yes, I don't have them thumping me in the side with tiny feet, but hey, I have to carry this extra weight on my head!
Well, I'm off to rest under a tree. It's going to be a long, hot summer and I plan on resting through as much of it as possible. At least until those little babies of mine start trying to aggrevate and play. But, I have awhile yet, my children aren't due until June or July. Maybe I'll have a son on the 4th of July....hmm, wonder how the humans will find a Shakespearean name for that one!

Mistletoe Checks In
Well, it may be hot as heck around here, but when you hear my name, you think of Christmas! My name is Mistletoe. I thought, with the temperatures in the 90's, and it being May 26, that in less than 7 months -- it will be Christmas time again! Yeah. I was the gift last Christmas here at SIS Ranch, hence the name Mistletoe! So, what will this summer bring in the way of presents? Lots of babies I think. We are all waiting to see if Pepper or the crazy girls, Anise & Licorice will be first to deliver babies and be the official first brood of SIS Ranch darlings, but I might surprise them all and be the first! Now THAT would be Christmas in June. Well, I'm keeping my ears perked for exciting news. When you see my ears standing straight up, you will know...it's BABY time!I'll keep watchin' for ya!

Nutmeg Goes to Timeout!
I DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR! I didn't do anything wrong. Why did I have to be moved from La Quinta to the Four Seasons? Just because I was chasing PEPPER???? Are you kidding? Okay, yes, she's pregnant, very pregnant it looks to me. Perhaps she's having a bunch...say five. I don't know.
But, that is not the point.
So what? I was chasing her. She didn't stop and tell me to go away. She ran, I ran. That is what we do. One runs, we all run. One perks their ears, we all perk our ears. I chased, she ran, simple as that.
But, oh no...I have to be moved. Now I live with the big girls. Mistletoe is mean. Rosemary, well everyone thinks she's mean. I want back with my friends. But, the humans say NOOOO. They say I need to behave. Ha! I can stare Pepper down from here. She's just across the fence. See my mean stare?
Pepper and her little babies. Yuck. I'm cute, I deserve attention. I don't deserve to be here. Although I must say the accommodations are quite nice, it's the roommates I'm not too thrilled with right now. Maybe I'll hang by Puck. He seems to get respect and I'll just bask in his respect aura.
Pepper...I'm watching you....you better get those babies here soon so I can come play with my friends...obviously not you...my other friends, Cilantro and Indigo, and Falstaff.

Indigo Introduces Herself
My name is Indigo. I was given that name because my eyes are big and bright like an indigo night! I'm little and cute to boot. My half-sister, Cilantro came with me from our ranch in South Texas and we are a lot alike. But, I am still the cutest! We live with Nutmeg and Pepper and Falstaff in La Quinta. It is an okay pen, but I'd really like to get to move around to another spot like the older girls get to do. I think the humans have forgotten that we've been here for like, forever. I want to explore. I want to see the sights. But, I think in La Quinta, it may be the only place where we can get the water fountain we get to enjoy sometimes. And, that is my favorite game in all the world. What fun. The water pops out of the ground and is so cool and fun. I love to run and play in it. Pepper just stands over the top of it. Hog. Nutmeg likes it sometimes, but Cilantro and I play, knock the deer out of the water with Falstaff and have great fun. Now, if the humans could just throw in some acorns, nuts, fruits and melons, this would be heaven! Hmm, I think we are getting the sprinklers turned out, Mr. Human is heading that way. I have to go. Enjoy the water, that's what I say.

Anise & Licorice - the TEAM
Enough about us being so anti-social. We prefer each other's company as we are the two coolest ones here. We can't help it that you are not cool enough to be with us. We are not sisters, or even cousins, just a couple of cool does. We came from Hoof & Horns and Rocky Creek, both in the Texas hill country. We don't like the other girls, or the humans. We like Puck, he's cool. And, Falstaff, you know he's royalty? Well, he is just our kind of guy. See, we like the boys. We like the corn. We like the trees, although they are nothing compared to the beauty of the hill country with all those rolling hills. Although, the rocks were more plentiful up there we must admit. Just in case you want to know. We will be first to have our babies because we are the coolest and the coolest get everything their way. You know we are right. So, all the rest of the girls can get up close and personal, we are too cool and therefore stay away. You'll never see us apart either. We cool does have to hang together. Now, go get some corn and go away.
Anise & Licorice
Cayenne's Day

Yes, lots of exciting things going on, but Puck is just a putz sometimes. Has he never seen a cement truck? I wonder sometimes about these guys.
I think our humans put cement blocks in at our gates to protect our babies that are coming soon. Yes, this should be a virtual nursery center any day now. We are all on countdown and personally I think my half-sister, Mistletoe may be one of the first. Well, actually, there are a couple of super silly girls, Anise and Licorice, who may beat us all, but they hang to themselves down at the Sheraton, so I'm not totally sure. Otherwise, my corn is on Pepper in La Quinta or possible Sage or Rosemary.
Mistletoe and I arrived right at Christmas time, which is why my dear sister got that festive name. I guess they felt I looked so much like the cayenne pepper that I didn't need a holiday theme. Misty and I came from Bull Deer Farm, down near Corpus Christi. We loved those nice gulf breezes and here at SIS Ranch is pretty similar. I'd say the trees are bigger here, which is nice on a hot Texas day. But, lately our weather has been so pleasant we've all been sitting out in the open.
Of all the girls here, I think I have the best eyelashes. Mine are nice and long and they come in very handy, when I'm not using them to flirt with Puck, to keep dust and sand out of my eyes on windy days.
You may wonder if I'm having a baby. Well, only time will tell and I'm not saying anything. Have a good day y'all.
Busy Week for Puck & Crew

Well, we have had a busy week around here. The humans brought in some folks to build something that seems rather interesting. Not real sure what it is, but boy did they like that hillbilly music. Geez, does everyone think that they can blast their music for everyone to hear? We have great hearing, just watch us sometime. We can swivel our ears in opposite directions at the same time. Can you do that? It is fun. We can hear what is behind us while listening to what is in front. Awesome, if I say so myself. So, we don't need the music blaring, we can enjoy it a decibel or two lower.
Anyway, these guys were building stuff at our gates and then today they brought in a big round truck and it dumped all kinds of stuff. Looked like the thing had some sort of stomach problem, it dumped a lot of loose stuff! Then, these guys moved it all around with a stick and stuff. Our humans came out and inspected, so I guess they did what they were supposed to do.
But, this has otherwise been a great week. The weather is wonderful. I've really enjoyed lounging around watching the growth of my antlers in the shadows. The brow tines and G1's are easily visable and I think the girls really like them, but they'd never say so. Those silly girls.
We also noticed the cattle in The Four Seasons and Ramada. Now, I think cows are fine, unlike Pepper who really is concerned about them, but, do they have to come in our pens? They are messy, very messy. Sort of like that truck. They have huge piles of...poop. I don't want my upscale abode messed up by poop. They are basically living, breathing lawn mowers and I guess it was a good idea, but sheep, they would've been better for the job in my estimation. But, the humans didn't ask me, so I guess I'll stay here in the Ritz until the cow deposits are washed away. Hopefully we'll see rain soon.
Well, I'm off to evaluate how Falstaff's antlers are coming along. He thinks he's so big and cool. Well, I see 4 points on this side of the fence and only 2 across the aisle.
Good evening to all...and to all...avoid the poop.

Puck, Week 5

Well, I am looking pretty good. Again this week my antlers grew a little more. It took me awhile to get a picture to everyone as I was exploring new sites. I have been living in The Sheraton and my best girl friends have been down at The Ritz. Well, the humans opened the walkway between the two and we've been milling about ever sense. It is just too much fun. I go to The Ritz, the girls come up here. We switch places, we hang together...and best of all, we drive the kids in La Quinta crazy.
You may wonder why we have such funny names for our pens. Why not 1 -6? Well, Mrs. Human likes to travel and she thought it would be clever to name each pen after a different hotel. The better the pen, the better the hotel name. So, as you can imagine, The Ritz is well, pretty ritzy. Lots of trees, plenty of room. The Four Seaons is even better. Over the years I hear the Four Seasons has really gotten quite posh. The Ritz might want to take a look at that pen and see what they could do. The little kids live in La Quinta. Not any trees to speak of and not too big, but they do have a comfortable little house if they need shade or shelter. Anise and Licorice, since they are rather shy, have stayed in The Hilton. I guess you could say they are the opposite of those other Hilton girls! Ha, ha. Our other pen is The Ramada, again, not too plush, not any trees, but it does have a small house like La Quinta. We all prefer the nice surroundings in The Ritz and Four Seasons. What can I say? I may be a deer but I like comfort just like humans.
Well, off to see what the girls are up to.

Ginger Gingerly Comes Forth
Hello, my name is Ginger. There really isn't much I can think of to say, but I guess I should at least say HEY. I'm one of the cousins who came with Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme. Sounds like a song, doesn't it. Well, I hear that I'm like some famous dancer, smart, doing things in reverse, but low key so you never realize. I don't walk backwards, but I am sort of understated. I like to let the gals like Rosemary and Parsley do the silly things. I prefer to read a good tree, follow blades of grass, watch squirrels scamper, and I like the sprinkler when the humans turn it on. That is fun. I never did that before I came here and it is my favorite thing to do - if I'm going to do anything.I don't really consider myself pretty, that award probably goes to Sage or Thyme. They are the pretty cousins, but we all get along, or at least do most of the time. Rosemary and Sage really don't like Cinnamon, which is a shame, she's really a nice deer if you get to know her. That is what I wish everyone would do, get to know each other. We all have interesting traits. We all have something fun and exciting to contribute. It is just harder to find in some. Did you hear me Miss Rosemary? Stop stomping those feet and be nice. I may have to stomp her someday; she'd be so surprised.
I think I'll also send a nice sunset for you to enjoy. That is what beauty really is in my estimation. A beautiful night sky. Ah..
Good night,
Ginger
