Those SIS Ranch Girls

A blog inspired by the lives of a family of deer residing on a Texas deer ranch.

Name:
Location: Texas

A city girl living from Las Vegas to Dallas to Chicago, now lives in the country with my husband and daughter - when she's not away at college. I have always "heard" what the animals have to say, now I have a way to creatively feature their thoughts!

It's Raining Corn

I stand still and it rains corn all over me! I think I'm big enough that the Humans can see me, yet they seem to always hit me with that corn. Do they think I won't get any? Uh, perhaps that is the issue for my son #14, but not an issue for me. I simply walk up and let my antlers do my talking. Those silly girls just move right out of my way. Hey, I'm big, I'm cool, I know. So, Humans, see me? I'm big. You don't need to throw it at me...I'll make sure and get plenty!

Watch the...

They say, "keep your eye on the corn", so I'm watching the corn, I'm watching the corn. If the Humans throw it far enough back, I'll get some of my very own and not have to share with the big mammas Nutmeg, Cayenne and Parsley. They take it all. Nutmeg even took the only flower I saw today. I'd like to taste one of those.

So, for the time being, I am just watching the corn, watching the corn.

Kid Chats

We have had such an exciting couple of weeks. We have so much going on in the noise factor lately with those humans crawling all over sticks and building them higher and higher. I think they are beaver humans and so they just build wherever they want. No reason, nothing exciting such as rushing river we can tell, but they just keep going up and up.

Then, girls got moved with girls and boys with boys. Much better for boys to do boy things.
Spirit returned to bring the boy factor to 5 and Curley returned to bring the girl number to 7. There are still six babies with their moms and two more at West End, but overall, we are growing and going.

Rain! Phewy!

Those silly girls. Oh "it rained today so we got a bath..." Uh, okay, do they not know that around that tub of water they drink out of there is a faucet? Turn the faucet on and viola....the sprinkler gives you bath time - anytime! I have had a field day today...playing in the sprinkler. In and out, out and around, over .... you get the picture. I don't need any stinking rain shower to get a bath. Once again, boys are smarter than girls.

Letters from The Ritz

Another day lounging at The Ritz. We spent the day watching some cows who decided sitting under a tree by our home was the best place they could find. Well, let me tell you, they are just plain...boring. We stood there and watched and watched and waited for something interesting, anything interesting, but they just stood around. They don't play. They just move like giant...things. Every once in awhile one would say something and WOW they are loud. They need to learn to tone it down an octave.

We also had another shower today giving all of us the chance to clean up once more. And, again, no boys bothered to get a bath. They are stinky things, those boys.

Then, this afternoon we got snacks. Yum! Bell and I ate as fast as we could but before we knew it everyone else had joined in and no one had time to pose for a photo. It is survival of the fittest when it comes to snacks and if we stop to pose for the Humans we could miss out on corn and other goodies. No posing tonight.
